The Houston Astros will host the Minnesota Twins for Game two of their three-Game set this Tuesday from Minute Maid Park. Minnesota stole Game one in extras to win by two, 7-5.

Minnesota moved to 28-26 after defeating Houston. The Twins came out strong in Game one, and after trading their last five Games, they’ll look to buck that trend here. The Minnesota offense is scoring 3.7 runs per Game, while batting .233, with a .315 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 3.44 ERA, with a 1.18 WHIP. Donovan Solano has a hit in six of the last eight Games, and he’s the Twins leading hitter ar .270 with Jorge Polanco. Joe Ryan (7-1, 2.21 ERA, 70 Ks) will get the ball for Minnesota. The third-year pitcher continues to be a star on the mound, and he earned his seventh win of the season against San Francisco last week, after holding them to one run over five innings. Ryan had delivered seven straight quality starts prior to the winning effort last time out, and he’s been one of the best pitchers in baseball this season. It will be interesting to see how Ryan handles Houston on the road here.

Astros Betting Preview

Houston enters at 31-22 after falling to Minnesota. The Astros have won eleven of their last fourteen Games, and they’ll look to jump back into the win column here. The Houston offense is scoring 4.66 runs per Game, while batting .245, with a .316 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 3.21 ERA, with a 1.19 WHIP. Yordan Alvarez homered twice in the series finale with Oakland, and he leads Houston in HR (14) and RBI (46). Kyle Tucker doubled in Game one, and he’s second on the team in RBI with 33. 

Brandon Bielak (1-2, 3.55 ERA, 22 Ks) will begin the game for Houston. The fourth-year pitcher came through with his longest outing of the season last time out in Milwaukee, but it resulted in his second losing decision.M after allowing four runs in 6.2 innings pitched. Bielak earned his first win of the year in his last home spot against Oakland, but Minnesota should present a stronger test.

Mass grave of plague victims may be largest ever found in Europe, archaeologists say

Plague pits containing the remains of at least 1,000 victims have been unearthed in southern Germany. The pits could together form the largest mass grave ever discovered in Europe, archaeologists say. The excavations, which were carried out ahead of construction work in the city of Nuremberg, revealed eight pits each crammed with hundreds of skeletons belonging to adults, children and babies that date to between the late 15th and early 17th centuries. Archaeologists also found pottery shards and silver coins in two of the three pits they have finished excavating. Radiocarbon dating revealed the pottery coincides with plague outbreaks that occurred between 1622 and 1634, while the coins date to around 1619, according to a statement released by the archaeological excavation company In Terra Veritas.
