Bukayo Saka named 2022/23 PFA Young Player of the Year
Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka has been named the 2022/23 PFA Young Player of the Year.
The England international was in dazzling form for Arsenal last year, racking up 14 goals and 11 assists as he established himself as one of the finest wingers in world football and nearly led Mikel Arteta's side to Premier League glory.
This was the fourth year in a row in which Saka was nominated for the award and the Arsenal star has now finally picked up the prize.
Saka becomes the sixth Arsenal player to win the award, following Tony Adams (1986/87), Paul Merson (1988/89), Nicolas Anelka (1998/99), Cesc Fabregas (2007/08) and Jack Wilshere (2010/11) in getting his hands on the trophy.
Saka finished top of a shortlist which also included Manchester City striker Erling Haaland who, like Saka, was also nominated for the Player of the Year award as well.
Fellow Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli was also in the running after his own sensational season, which yielded 15 goals and five assists.
Aston Villa's Jacob Ramsey, Brighton striker Evan Ferguson and new Chelsea signing Moises Caicedo made up the remainder of the shortlist.
