US Open 2023 Womens Singles Title Winner Picks, Odds & Best Bets
It has already been quite a summer on hard courts for the American women, and they are still yet to even arrive at their home Grand Slam! In the lead-up to the U.S. Open, they swept 1000-point titles in Montreal (Jessica Pegula) and Cincinnati (Coco Gauff). Both Pegula and Gauff upset world #1 Iga Swiatek on the way to their respective titles.
Will Swiatek bounce back and defend her title in New York? The 22-year-old is favored to do so, but she could be challenged by Pegula, Gauff, Aryna Sabalenka, Elena Rybakina and others.
Here are the odds and my picks for the women’s side at the 2023 U.S. Open.

3-star value play: Jessica Pegula (+1000)
What’s not to like about Pegula in New York? She is in outstanding form and has a favorable draw. Moreover, she doesn’t just have home-court advantage as any ol’ American; she is a native New Yorker! The daughter of Buffalo Bills owner Terry Pegula reached the semifinals in Washington, D.C. and then lifted the trophy in Montreal. The world #3 has advanced to the quarters at 5 of the last 7 Grand Slams, so she is without question one of the most consistent players on tour. Pegula looks poised for her first slam title.
2-star value play: Aryna Sabalenka (+475)
As the #2 seed, Sabalenka obviously finds herself on the opposite side of the bracket from Swiatek. That automatically makes you like her chances at Flushing Meadows, where the Belarusian has made a run to the semifinals each of the past 2 seasons. Speaking of Grand Slam success, Sabalenka has reached at least the semis of all 4 such tournaments – including her first slam title earlier this year at the Australian Open. Quick conditions in New York are perfect for Sabalenka’s game, so she very well could power her way to the winner’s trophy.
1-star value play: Karolina Muchova (+2000)
Admittedly, I didn’t have a Karolina Muchova resurgence on my 2023 bingo card when the year began…. But here we are. It’s time – if not past time – to get on the bandwagon as we come down the home stretch of the 2023 Tennis season. Muchova’s results include a quarterfinal showing in Indian Wells and runner-up performances at Roland Garros (lost to Swiatek in a 3-set thriller) and in Cincinnati (lost to Gauff). The 10th-ranked Czech has a decent draw in New York; she is in a different quarter from Swiatek and Gauff in addition to being in the opposite half from Swiatek
